Some general information about St. Petersburg real estate and purchasing a home in St Petersburg Florida:
When you begin your search for a new Tampa Bay home you should defiantly consider Saint Petersburg a top candidate. The city has been designed around its public parks and public spaces beautifully and has a wide variety of social, cultural and recreational activities to keep you busy and have a lot of fun while you are living there.
The downtown of St Petersburg is alive as it never has been before with concerts and events scheduled on a regular basis. the city has really focused on making the downtown a destination for visitors from out of town and the surrounding locales. There is hardly a weekend that goes by when there is not a happening at Vinoy waterfront park. The Pier is always fun to visit and there are always concerts and shows at Jannus Landing and Vinoy and Straub Park venues. From Heavy metal to light jazz you can find it right in the heart of downtown St Petersburg and easily accessible from the historic neighborhoods of downtown or one of the many new condo complexes and buildings that have been constructed right in the middle of downtown St Petersburg and along the waterfront. Some of these condos have spectacular views over the municipal marina and bay front.
As far as shopping goes St Petersburg has it covered with night life and shopping combined at Baywalk in downtown. Even if you are looking for St Pete beach real estate you are still a close ride to downtown St Petersburg and its amenities, but nothing beats living right in the middle of all the action.
There are great museums in St Petersburg as well including the Salvador Dali Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts.
Recreational activities in and around the water are plentiful with several marinas that can house all sizes of boats. There is waterfront dining and the fishing in Tampa Bay is second to none. There are plenty of redfish, trout and snook to catch right inside the bay. The beaches are wonderful for boating, swimming and fishing as well.
Saint Petersburg Florida is also the home of the Tampa Bay Rays Major League Baseball team and Tropicana field just adjacent to downtown. With games during spring training and the regular season there are always plenty of sports events to enjoy and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL and the Tampa Bay Lightning of the NHL and Tampa Bay Storm of Arena Football are just across the bay in South Tampa / downtown Tampa. With plans in the works for a new waterfront stadium for the Rays along the waterfront in downtown St Petersburg the historic neighborhoods around downtown St Petersburg will be a better place than ever to call home.
St Petersburg enjoys very good traffic flow as the interstate system bisects the peninsula in St Petersburg making any location in the Tampa Bay area easily accessible. The city itself is particularly well suited for traffic as the original design was a grid and allows for the free flow of traffic throughout the downtown area. This usually keeps the roads free of congestion even during the rush hour period. This makes for a nice and short commute from most of the area.
in short St Petersburg and the beaches make a great fit for new residents who are looking for a lot of action and events but without all the hassles of big city life but still being close enough if you get the urge for some big city fun.
